REAL LOVE
© Linda Lamon 2020
Verse
I met friends in high places, at my journey's end,
Others I had followed, but my heart they could not mend.
I felt when they listened - was held tightly when I cried
And moved by their stories, I knew we'd been denied
Chorus
Real love to mend and heal
Real pain, that only needs -love.
So don’t give up – be true your soul
And bring real love running -back home
Instrumental
Real love to mend and heal
Real pain, that only needs -love.
So don’t’ give up - be true to your soul,
And bring real love running – back home.
Outro
Follow your dreams – and don’t be alone
Bring real love - home

HOLD ON IN LOVE’S NAME
© Linda Lamon 2020
Verse 1
I wonder if you share, this fear of the future,
‘Cos I feel your pain so deep.
And can you hear the voices, that tell us you’re worthless
Why can’t they just let it be.
Chorus
We’ve got to hold on, keep strong,
Make right, what’s wrong,
Hold on, in love’s name.
Verse 2
As I see you suffering, my heavy heart wants to bring
An end to this crazy misery.
But all I can do now is wait for that truth bow
And hope for the day they’ll all see.
Chorus
Middle 8
For we now have the plunder of the beauty and wonder
Our earth and its creatures hold dear.
We’re seeing the destruction, of the nature we rely on
For species to survive future years.
Chorus
Outro
We’ve got to save our planet, re-plant trees,
Make habitats for birds and bees.
Hold on, in love’s name.
Hold on, in love’s name.

MAYBE I SHOULD /LYRICS
© Linda Lamon 2020
Trying to write with my head in the clouds
Wondering what it’s all about,
And it’s you, baby it’ true.
I can’t eat, I can’t sleep,
Concentration I can’t keep
‘Cos of you, but what should I do?
Chorus
Well, maybe I should make some more coffee
Or maybe I should ‘phone a friend,
Or maybe, maybe maybe I should try to sleep
But baby, baby, that’s no good, ‘
‘Cos I dream of you in my bed
All the night through
All I want is you
‘Cos you really, really chase away my blues
Have I not proved
There’s no-one else for me,
And clearly - all I want is you. (change last line in second chorus)
Instrumental break
Repeat chorus
…I’m afraid so baby…
All I Want Is You – ooooo

DON’T SAY A WORD
© Linda Lamon
LYRICS
Don’t say a word, I know that you are leaving
And don’t have regrets, the wheel of fate is turning,
Right now, is the moment, to feel so many things
Hold on to those memories, oh what joy they can bring.
And don’t shed a tear, come close and hold my hand,
Let’s wish away those fears, and try to understand
To talk, would only take away, the magic of this time,
Although you are here today, you won’t always be mine.
Instrumental
In another time, we’ll meet again, I hope one day to see,
A perfect place, where we’d remain, together – that’s how it should be
So, don’t say a word, I know your heart is true,
Remember what we’ve shared, you know I’ll always love you.

I WILL
© Linda Lamon 2004
You'll always be my friend
'Cos you know just what to do
When I'm happy, lonely sad or blue
You comfort hold and trust
On days when I am lost
I'm so lucky being loved by you.
Chorus
You pledged your love to me
As the sun went down
By the cross, for all the world to see
The wind was blowing warm,
Midsummer sky cerise and still
That evening when I said I will.
Instrumental
My blue eyes fill with tears
When I think of all the years
We've shared so many wonderous things
You kept your promise true
With all that loving brings
I'm so lucky being loved by you.

You’re Not There
Lyrics © Linda Lamon
Verse 1
Each day that, you say that, it won’t be long before I’ll have
Your lovin’ all to myself.
I wonder if maybe, you really know how to show,
You need me, like no-one else
Chorus (build)
‘Cos I miss cryin’ on a shoulder
And feeling tender lovin’ care,
A friend and lover,
But baby, you’re not there.

Sometimes, well, you can tell, I get so angry ‘cos
I’m givin’ while you tear me apart

To look for another heart.

DOWN AT THE QUARRY
Words and music by Linda Lamon © 2020
My eyes are tired and my memories fading fast,
I get lonely and the whisky doesn’t last
Son, it’s getting’ no better.
The door’s ever open for the cold wind to blow
I stand ragged watching trucks come and go
Son, listen to me won’t ya.
Father, oh yes father,
I hear you callin’, I hear you callin’
But there’s work to be done,
Yes, there’s work to be done
Down at the quarry.
We gotta keep those wheels turning, turning around,
‘Cos our blood sweat and tears lie deep, deep in that ground
(Down at the quarry.)
INSTRUMENTAL BREAK
Down to the valley they drive for the so
On land once forgotten, which we now work & toil,
But son, I’m getting so weary
There’s people around me but they just don’t understand
Can’t you see that it’s getting out of hand,
Son, you know it’s never too early.
.
Chorus
Father, oh yes father,
I hear you callin’, I hear you callin’
But there’s work to be done,
Yes, there’s work to be done
Down at the quarry
We gotta keep those wheels turning, turning around,
‘Cos our blood sweat & tears lies deep, deep in that ground.
And there’s work to be done,
Yes, there’s work to be done
Down at the quarry.
Yes, there’s work to be done, work to be done
Down at the - quarry

CRAZY KISSIN’ – lyrics
© Linda Lamon 2020
Sunny day, feel OK, I’m driving down that great highway (he said)
Come on girl, sidle up, let me be your buttercup (I said)
Listen guy, you may try, but don't you think that it's by and by.
Things have changed, rearranged, and here's telling you why:
Chorus:
I'm wearing borrowed shoes, I'm on borrowed time,
I get to thinking that maybe I'm not going for this
Crazy Kissin' Line
Crazy Kissin' Line, Crazy Kissin' Line, Crazy Kissin' Line Hey hey hey
Instrumental break
Don’t you know, it’s time to go, you’re gonna reap just what you sow (he said)
Aww let’s dance, with no pretence, won’t you give me one more chance (I said)
Listen guy, you know you lied, and left me with my broken pride
Well, things have changed, rearranged, and here’s telling you why:
Chorus
I'm wearing borrowed shoes, I'm on borrowed time,
I get to thinking that maybe I'm not going for this,
Crazy Kissin' Line
Crazy Kissin' Line, Crazy Kissin' Line, Crazy Kissin' Line Hey hey hey!
Outro
Sunny day, feel Ok, driving down the great highway x 2

Bere Regis Blues – lyrics
© Linda Lamon
Verse 1
As I drove into Bere Regis, I was following my soul
I felt something there between us, asI heard that lonely call,
So, in Cyril’s Court I lay down and I heard that rock n’roll.
Chorus
There were drummers and strummers, singers and scribblers,
The piano played all day,
There were poets and know-its, pipers and painters,
Yeah, the music had something to say!
Verse 2
I loved that life in Bere Regis, thought I’d kinda’ like to stay,
I’d met some kindred spirits and my heart had said OK,
So, I picked up my old guitar and played the blues away.
Instrumental break
Chorus
Verse 3
Now I’m stuck here in Bere Regis and I haven’t got a dime
I’d like to go to Memphis s, but I’m running outa’ time,
Guess I’ll keep on with the rollin’ and hold my head up high.
Outro
It’s Bere Bere Bere Bere Bere and not Bare Bare Bare
So I’ll keep on with the rollin’
And hold my head up – high…

WHY – lyrics
© Linda Lamon 2020
Where aircraft fly west and hedgehogs lie low, low,
Down by the soft meadow, Paul’s Mountain Ash will grow,
There’ll be red berries in Autumn and white flowers in Spring,
Down by the Sycamore where the skylarks sing.
Chorus
Simmy can you hear me, are you floating in the wind
Forever 27, you can do your own thing,
Can you hear me, as you walk that night sky,
Are you near me, as I sit and wonder, sit and wonder why?
Verse 2
Overlooking five counties where he once sought peace,
Simmy will stay with us, a warm spirit that will never cease,
So, if you’re looking for the light man, with Paris Angels they say,
You’ll find him in the place where people like to pray.
Chorus
Simmy, can you hear me, are you floating in the wind
Forever 27, you can do your own thing.
Can you hear me, as you walk that night sky,
Can you hear me, as I sit and wonder, sit and wonder why?
Why? Why-i. Why-i. Why-i / Why

CREATURE’S OF THE WOOD
LYRICS © Linda Lamon 2021
Welcome to my home,
Said the badger to the wren,
We’ll watch the sun go down,
As the trees glow again.
We'll feel the evening breeze,
And colours of the night,
Will rest with gentle ease,
On the blackbird’s tuneful flight.
Chorus 1
We are creatures of the wood,
At one with the earth,
Natures friends, greatly loved,
Born free to know our worth.
Bridge
If tomorrow I do not wake,
Please don’t be afraid,
Sing as the dawn breaks,
Remember what I said.
Chorus 2
We are creatures of the wood,
At one with the earth,
Natures friends, greatly loved,
Born free to know our worth.
Born free, to know our worth!
HAZEL THE DORMOUSE
Lyrics © Linda Lamon
Chorus 1
Hazel the dormouse is sleeping,
Her head tucked under her tail,
Deep in the heart of the woodland,
Safe and warm from the winter chills.
In Springtime she’ll awaken,
Tiny feet and claws will unfold,
She’ll scurry out into the open,
And sip nectar from the Hawthorne.
Chorus 2
Until then, Hazel is sleeping,
Her head tucked under her tail,
Deep in the heart of the woodland,
Safe and warm from the winter chills.
Hazel spends her summer nights,
On branches high in the trees,
Big whiskers guide her way,
Through the canopy of trees
Chorus 3
Until then, Hazel is sleeping,
Her head tucked under her tail,
Deep in the heart of the woodland,
Safe and warm from the winter chills.
In the Autumn Dilly gets busy,
Filling her little tum,
Nibbling hazelnuts gently,
Ready for hibernation.
Chorus 4
Until then, Hazel is sleeping,
Her head tucked under her tail,
Deep in the heart of the woodland,
Safe and warm from the winter chills
Hazel the Dormouse is sleeping
Her head tucked under her tail.
MR PRICKLES
Lyrics © Linda Lamon 2021
On a warm summer’s eve,
Whilst walking near my home,
I heard a rustle and a kind of sneeze,
It was such a funny sound!
I crept beside the old hedgerow,
And tried not to move a thing,
Then out came a tiny creature,
And he began to sing:
Chorus 1
I am prickly, I am shiny,
I come out in the middle of the night
I curl up in a cute round ball
And go to sleep as the winter falls.
His brown coat was so spiky,
He had such stumpy feet,
His tiny eyes shone brightly,
As he sniffed for bugs to eat.
Call me Mr Prickles he said
And he became my friend
At dusk when it was time for bed
We’d sing his hedgehog song:
Chorus 2
I am prickly, I am shiny,
I come out in the middle of the night
I curl up in a cute round ball
And go to sleep as the winter falls
Spoken part
Well, Mr Prickles went off to hibernate (as hedgehogs do)
But then Spring came - and guess who was waiting at my gate?
Middle
Mr Prickles in my garden
Running around with his wet black nose
He makes me so excited
From my head down to my toes
He’s wild, oh so wild,
Makes me smile, all the while
“Cos he’s so wild!
Chorus 3
I am prickly, I am shiny,
I come out in the middle of the night
I curl up in a cute round ball
And go to sleep as the winter falls
I curl up in a cute round ball
And go to sleep as the winter falls.
Goodnight Mr Prickles!
